Having lost their farmlands to the pressures of urbanisation, some former farmers satiate their desire to cultivate by growing crops in whatever space available around households. ಮೇಟಿ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯ ಹಂಬಲ ಜಯಿಸಲು ಸುಲಭವಲ್ಲ. ನಗರೀಕರಣದ ಒತ್ತಡಗಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೊಲಗದ್ದೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ನಂತರವೂ ಕೆಲವು ಮಾಜಿ ರೈತರು ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ ಸುತ್ತ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಯಾವುದೇ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತಮ್ಮ ಹಂಬಲ ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವಿಶ್ವದ ಇತರ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಬೆಲೆಗೆ ನಾವು ಆಹಾರ ಧಾನ್ಯ ಆಮದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೋದರೆ ಅವರ ಕೃಷಿ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತವೆಯಲ್ಲವೇ?
